Tamaki is called The Dark Knight because of his reputation as a monster hunter at day and some say they have spotted him from afar at night in a mysterious form. Not much is known about him. He only appears when he's needed the most and is gone as fast he arrived with his slayed prey. From the villagers he got his name based on his look and technique to fight unholy beasts. Even if he acts only for the good, he's still feared by many. Nevertheless, his heart is on the right place and he uses his powers to better the world around him.
He eventually gave up wearing armor shoes, not only due of his manifest at night, but also because he's able to feel the vibrations on the ground and distinguish between monsters and humans steps.

He met Hatori as he was hunting a monster which lured Hatori into a trap. As a bird, it is not easy to survive in this world. Especially from the day Hatori has been banned from her homeland, she was left on their own. Only thanks her healing abilities she survived this far. Tamaki was unsure at first if her look could be only an apparence which would transform back in her true best from at every moment - but he soon realized that she was indeed only an Harphy lost in this waste world. It was the first time he meet a non-human creature which was not turned evil.
